Don Bosco Youth Services and Axis Bank celebrated world environmental day across Kerala.
Don Bosco Youth Services, Kerala in collaboration with youth centres and the axis bank organized a clean-a-thon under the title‘ Open for the Earth’ on 5th June marking the world environmental day. Open to the Erath highlighted the importance of nature and the need for the protection of the earth. The cleaning campaign was organised in Wayanad (KSRTC Stand Sulthan Bathery), Thrissur (Bypass Road Mannuthy), and Ernakulam (Puthuvype Beach), Alappuzha (Beach), Kollam (Beach).
Mr K N Unnikrishnan the MLA of the Vypeen constituency inaugurated the programme at Central Squire Mall. Fr Manu Michael SDB, Director, Don Bosco Youth Services Kerala and S Bindish, Circle Head, Axis Bank and others were present for the function. The awareness campaign in Ernakulam was launched with an energetic flash mob.
A 17 ft Giant fish art has been installed on Puthu Vypin beach for dumping plastic and other wastes. It was followed by a flash mob. Vypin panchayat president and representatives of Don Bosco gave messages about the importance of environmental protection. All the wastes from the shore have been collected as a public challenge. Along with the representatives of Axis bank and Don Bosco many local people have also participated in this challenge. This installation will be fixed permanently on the beach for waste disposal and beach beautification.
Open of the planet – Clean- A thon – cleaning campaign has been conducted in Thrissur, Wayanad, Kollam, Alappuzha, and Ernakulam District. Flash mob has been conducted in 4 different places in Ernakulam district.
